Consumer VOICE Issue: March- April 2002

VOICE tested as many as 16 popular brands of mustard oil. They include Pariwar, Babaji, Engine, Hafed, Hathi, Veer, Kanodia, P Mark, Dhara, Kirti, Panghat, Mastan and Tej, Brijwasi.

The parameters for which oil was tested for are Moisture and Insoluble impurities, Colour, Reflective Index, Saponif Value, Iodine Value, Acid Value, Natural Essential Oil Present by Mass, BT Temperature, Flash Point, Presence of Hyroscenic Acid, Presence of Argemone, Packaging, Labeling Info,, Actual Quantity,Overall Tating(Based on Total Score), MRP and Avg Retail price.

Result

The results revealed that the lesser-known brand like Pariwar, Babaji, Engine, Hafed and Hathi turned out to be the best among all. Veer, Kanodia, P Mark, Dhara, Kirti and the rest then followed these.
